News KBMT

People living in the town of Old Salem are allowed back in their homes, after a pipeline explosion Tuesday evening.
Newton County Sheriff Joe Walker tells KBMT the evacuations were made just Northwest of Deweyville off Highway 87, around eight o'clock . There was no fire, but the natural gas leak forced authorities to push people out of their homes. Volunteers with the Trout Creek Volunteer Fire Department were the first responders. Sheriff Walker tells us Delta Petroleum owns the pipeline and shut it off immediately following the leak. We will have a complete update Good Morning Southeast Texas.
