Power Knocked Out for Hundreds from Overnight Storms

Brian Burns

Storms pounded the area Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Earlier it was 'lights out' for thousands of you.

Here at KBMT our Gary Childress kept you up to date during the early morning hours.

About 4 this morning, a tree fell near the Maury Meyers bridge in Beaumont just off I-10, knocking out power for about 550 customers there and another 99 in the Fannett area.

Tonight, in Southeast Texas all power has been restored.

In Lafayette, Louisiana, sweeping power outages were reported after a line was knocked down and flooding was reported.

Folks were told to stay off the roadways.

A 77 year old man died in a town along I- 10 just on this side of Baton Rouge.

A pecan tree fell on the man's camper.
