Woman Charged in Hit & Run Appealling Probation Sentencing

Brian Burns

A woman accused of killing a Lumberton High School student in a hit and run is released after being sentenced for violating probation on a 3 year old drug charge.

Ashley Hardwick was sentenced by judge Joe Bob Golden to two years in state prison for violating the probation.

The violation happened when Hardwick was arrested on a charge of intoxication manslaughter in connection with the hit and run death of 17 year old Zachary Spears of Lumberton last December.

Hardwick was then released on a ten thousand dollar appeal bond.

If convicted on the manslaughter chage, she faces a maximum fine of $10,000 and up to 20 years in prison.

She needs to face the music. She killed someone while drinking and already had a drug charge against her. How many lives does it take to get the justice system to work for the victim ?
