Vidor Drowning Victim Remembered by Classmates

Brian Burns

Another life tragically cut short by our Southeast Texas waterways.

The body of fifteen-year-old Jared Edwards of Vidor was recovered from the Neches River hours after he and four other teenagers were swimming off the Lakeview sandbar Saturday afternoon.

Edwards reportedly got caught by a swift current and never re-surfaced.

The other teens are expected to be okay.

To help the classmates of Jared heal emotionally, students are writing messages about Jared, that will be read at school each day, and then given to family members.

I am Jarred's aunt. Jarred was an awsome kid. Always had a smile. He will be greatly missed not only by his family but by the hundreds of friends who turned out for his memorial service. On behalf of the family, I would like to say thank you to everyone for all you have done. It means so much to the family just to know that Jarred has touched so many lives and that his memory will live on in each and every one of you. I'm sure Jarred is smiling down on us all. God bless.
