Help "Beat the Heat"

Patrick Vaughn

Summer temperatures and humidity put low-income, elderly residents in danger.

The hottest part of summer is just around the corner and the Salvation Army needs your help.

A program in it's tenth year of existence called Beat the Heat provides fans for low-income  residents across Southeast Texas.

Entergy Texas donated one hundred fans to the Salvation Army and they have given almost all of them away.

So, you can either donate a fan or write them a check.

The Salvation Army is located at 3145 25th Street in Port Arthur, 1490 N. 7th Street in Beaumont, and 1950 MLK in Orange and are open from nine until eleven thirty and one to four Monday through Friday.

Those needing fans can go to one of those three locations with a copy of their electric bill and identification.
