Port Arthur Rotary's 21st Taste of Gumbo

Patrick Vaughn

This weekend, the Port Arthur Rotary Club will hold it's twenty-first annual "Taste of Gumbo."

Restaurants from the local area gather together and have a gumbo cookoff.

They are set up in booths, which allow participants to go from booth to booth, to sample all of the gumbo's from each restaurant.

People can go back and get more of their favorites as they want to.

There will also be a pie and cake sale, a silent auction, door prizes, free cotton candy, and a band which will be playing throughout the event.

Many of the businesses of the local area have donated items to the silent auction, as their way of participating in the event in helping the community.

All the funds raised at this event are distributed locally and for the current needs of the community.
