South Texas State Fair2008 fair scheduled for March 26 - April 5
The South Texas State Fair is a regional state fair held in Beaumont, Texas every October. The fair features a livestock show, commercial exhibition, and a carnival midway, filled with exciting rides and delicious BBQ, Tex-Mex, and Cajun foods.
The first confirmed South Texas State Fair opened in Beaumont in 1907 and has continued every year since. While all other state fairs closed during World War II, the South Texas State Fair continued in part upon requests from the U.S. military in an attempt to improve the morale of soldiers stationed in the Beaumont area. The South Texas State Fair is sponsored by the YMBL (Young Men’s Business League). It is the state’s second largest fair, attracting over 440,000 visitors from Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana.
